In our quest for healthy, radiant skin, we often turn to an array of skincare products and routines. But what if we told you that there's a natural, holistic method that can work wonders for your skin? Enter mindful breathing—the practice that not only calms your mind but also nourishes your skin from within. Let's dive into how mindful breathing can help you achieve that coveted glow.
The Mind-Skin Connection: Our skin doesn't exist in isolation from the rest of our body—it's deeply connected to our overall well-being. Stress, anxiety, and lack of sleep can wreak havoc on our skin, leading to breakouts, dullness, and premature aging. Mindful breathing addresses these underlying factors, creating a harmonious connection between our mental state and our skin's health.
The Science Behind It: Mindful breathing engages the body's relaxation response, triggering a cascade of physiological changes. Stress hormones like cortisol decrease, reducing inflammation that can contribute to skin issues. Increased oxygen intake improves blood circulation, delivering essential nutrients to skin cells and promoting a healthy complexion.
How to Practice Mindful Breathing:
Find a Quiet Space: Choose a comfortable spot where you can sit or lie down without distractions.
Focus on Your Breath: Close your eyes and turn your attention to your breath. Observe the natural rhythm of your inhalations and exhalations.
Stay Present: As thoughts arise, gently redirect your focus back to your breath. Imagine each inhale bringing calmness and each exhale releasing tension.
Deepen Your Breaths: As you become more comfortable, take slow, deep breaths. Inhale deeply through your nose, allowing your lungs to expand, and exhale slowly through your mouth.
Engage Your Senses: If it helps, focus on the sensation of your breath—the coolness as you inhale and warmth as you exhale.
Set a Timer: Start with a few minutes and gradually extend your practice as you see fit. Consistency is key.
Mindful Breathing and Skin Benefits:
Reduced Stress: Lower stress levels translate to reduced cortisol production, minimizing breakouts and inflammation.
Enhanced Blood Circulation: Improved oxygen supply to skin cells promotes cell turnover, leading to a brighter complexion.
Better Sleep: Mindful breathing before bed relaxes the body and mind, promoting restful sleep—a vital aspect of skin health.
Emotion Regulation: Mindful breathing helps manage emotional responses, preventing stress-induced skin flare-ups.
Youthful Glow: The improved blood flow and reduced stress contribute to a more youthful appearance.
When it comes to achieving glowing skin, sometimes the best solutions are the simplest ones. Mindful breathing offers a holistic approach, working from the inside out to bring radiance to your skin. As you incorporate this practice into your daily routine, you'll not only discover the calming benefits for your mind but also witness the transformation of your skin into a healthier, more luminous version of itself. So take a deep breath, embrace the present moment, and let your skin thank you for it.
]]>Are you tired of your fragrance fading away after just a few hours? Layering your fragrance with soap, lotion, and perfume is the perfect way to make it last all day. Not only will layering help to intensify the scent, but it will also help to lock in the fragrance, making it last longer on your skin. Here are some tips on how to layer soap, lotion, and perfume for a long-lasting fragrance.
Step 1: Choose Your Fragrance
The first step to layering your fragrance is to choose a scent that you love. You can choose a fragrance that's already in your collection, or you can try a new scent that you've been wanting to try. When choosing a fragrance, consider the notes in the scent. Fragrances with similar notes tend to work well together when layered. You can also pick a brand that carries your favorite fragrance in all 3 products!
Step 2: Start with Soap
Start your fragrance layering routine in the shower with a scented soap. Use a bar soap or shower gel that matches or complements your chosen fragrance. The soap will help to cleanse your skin and create a base for the fragrance to adhere to. Rinse off the soap and pat your skin dry. Try our bestselling handmade soap for an excellent base.
Step 3: Moisturize with body butter or body oil or both!
Next, apply a matching body butter/oil to your skin. The will help to hydrate your skin and provide a base for the fragrance to adhere to. Be sure to apply the butter/oil all over your body, paying extra attention to areas where you tend to sweat, such as your neck, chest, and wrists.
Step 4: Finish with Perfume
Once the body butter/oil has absorbed into your skin, it's time to apply your solid perfume. Apply the perfume onto your pulse points, such as your wrists, neck, and behind your ears. The heat from your body will help to activate the fragrance, and the perfume will bond with the body butter to create a long-lasting fragrance that will stay on your skin all day.
Bonus Tip: Refresh Throughout the Day
If you want your fragrance to last even longer, carry your chosen fragrance with you throughout the day. This way, you can refresh your scent as needed and keep it going strong all day long.
With just a few simple steps, you can create a long-lasting fragrance that will keep you smelling amazing from morning until night.
]]>Perfumes are a popular way to express ourselves and create a lasting
impression. The right fragrance can capture our personality and enhance
our mood. However, traditional liquid perfumes can be messy and difficult
to carry around, which is where solid perfumes come in.
Portability
One of the biggest benefits of using a solid perfume is its portability.
Solid perfumes are compact and can easily fit into a purse, clutch, or
even a pocket. They are perfect for travel, as they are not subject to TSA
liquid restrictions. You can take them with you anywhere you go, which
means you can freshen up your scent throughout the day. You don't have
to worry about spilling or breaking a bottle of liquid perfume in your luggage or purse.
Long-Lasting
Solid perfumes are long-lasting and can stay on your skin for hours. This is
because they are made with a blend of waxes and oils that help to lock in the
fragrance. Unlike liquid perfumes, solid perfumes do not evaporate quickly.
They also do not contain alcohol, which can dry out your skin and cause the
fragrance to dissipate faster. With solid perfumes, you can enjoy the scent for
longer periods without having to reapply.
Precise Application
Another benefit of using a solid perfume is its precise application. With liquid
perfumes, it can be challenging to control the amount of fragrance you apply.
This can result in an overpowering scent that can be unpleasant. With solid
perfumes, you can apply the fragrance exactly where you want it, without
worrying about overdoing it. You can apply it discreetly in public without
making a scene or disturbing anyone around you.
Variety of Fragrances
You can also combine different scents to create your unique fragrance. Layer
the fragrance with your favorite soap and body butter or oil to create a longer
lasting scent or one that is uniquely you.
Environmentally Friendly
Solid perfumes are a more environmentally friendly option than traditional
liquid perfumes. They come in minimal packaging and do not require the use of
aerosols or sprays. This means they have a lower carbon footprint and
produce less waste.
Better for Sensitive Skin
Solid perfumes are a better option for people with sensitive skin. Traditional
liquid perfumes often contain alcohol, which can dry out the skin and cause
irritation. Solid perfumes are made with natural and organic ingredients that are
gentle on the skin.
Solid perfumes are perfect for people who lead a busy lifestyle, travel
frequently, or want to reduce their carbon footprint. So, why not give it a try and experience the benefits yourself
What a magical and somewhat stressful time of year. The one thing I refuse to get stressed out about is gift giving. Gift giving should be joyful, isn't that the whole point? Joy?
I try to buy all of my gifts from other small businesses as much as I can. I know the impact it makes and the hard work and love that goes into every piece, which makes the gift even more special.
I came across this wonderful brand called Le Serey. This gorgeous jewelry brand is also made in Texas with a lot of heart. The founder Rebekah handcrafts each piece in studio. The pieces are 14k Gold Filled, gold bonded and Hypoallergenic. Not to be confused with gold plating, the 14k Gold Filled is a thick layer of 14K solid gold that is permanently bonded to the base, meaning it is not only waterproof and hypoallergenic, but it's the most durable jewelry you can find next to solid gold. You can sleep, shower, swim, and sweat in them and not be worried about ruining them! . You get the look & feel of real solid gold jewelry at a fraction of the price! This year I bought my daughters, and myself, the Beaded Satellite Chain.
It is so versatile and a perfect piece to layer.
She has earrings, a charm bar, bracelets, and rings! Do yourself a favor and check out Le Serey.

On-the-Fly Iced Tea / Hot Brew
To make an iced tea you're going to boil your tea and chill it over ice. You'll need 2 pitchers or mugs - one for steeping, one for straining. Use 2 tablespoons of loose leaf tea per 6 to 8 ounces of boiling water. Eleanor Grey is perfect for a black iced tea or Nightcap is a crisp non-caffeinated iced blend. Steep as you normally would, strain into another mug, and add about as much ice to boiling water.
Pro tip: You may need to add more ice as the hot water will quickly melt those cubes.
We don't think you'd need to add any sweeteners to these, but that's just us! Top it off with some mint for a festive flair.
Cold Brew Iced Tea
This is our favorite way to steep iced tea because it goes down smooth and has less acidity. Take 2 tablespoons of loose leaf tea for 6 to 8 ounces of cold water.
Let the tea steep in a pitcher of cold water overnight. Add a little garnish with your favorite summer fruit, like strawberries or raspberries.
The best tricks for renewing your makeup kit. A few simple tips to keep everything in order and discard anything old/expired!
-Discard all broken products.
-Discard all products beyond their use-by date.
Expiration:
It is always a good idea to write down when you purchase an item; some products last longer than others, and who really remembers when they bought something over a month ago? And if you aren’t sure, check the expiration date on the package! But here are a few simple rules to go by:
Mascara: about three-four months after opening. If you use it a lot it may be that it doesn’t even last three months.
All texture products in powder form such as shadow, matte powders and foundation -last about two years.
Foundation: in cream form, correctors, shadows or rouges in cream form: these last about a year and a half.
Lipsticks: about two years.
Lip gloss: about two years. See when the color or texture changes; it is possible that if you have exposed it to temperature changes then it may have gone off.
Face creams and cleansers have different shelf lives, depending on their ingredients- They can last from 3 to 12 or 24 months.
Cleanliness:
Clean all your products with a damp towel, and dry them with a soft cloth. They will come out looking new.
Don’t forget to clean all your brushes, and you’ll see how much easier it is to put makeup on. Here’s how:
Natural hair brushes:
Clean them with a mild shampoo, with a neutral fragrance. Or better yet Dr. Bonner's castile soap is my go to.
Rinse them in cold or lukewarm water (avoid using hot water)
Rinse again, until you are sure there is no remaining soap.
Synthetic-hair brushes:
Clean your synthetic-hair brushes with a grease-removing product, such as washing-up liquid (dish soap) or again use Dr. Bonner's
Rinse them in lukewarm water and ensure there is no remaining soap.
TIP: Always leave your brushes to dry on a towel; never let them dry vertically in a cup, as in this case the water would enter the brush’s handle and ruin it, besides which the hair will part.
New sponges and powder puffs:
Buy new sponges and powder puffs. They are very accessible and you will feel as though you are trying out a whole range of products for the first time.
Cosmetic Bag:
Wash your cosmetic bag in a washing machine, if the material and shape allow it. Otherwise clean it with a damp sponge and eliminate all left-over pencil shavings, broken pencils, bits of makeup, etc.
If you can, buy yourself a new cosmetic bag with separate compartments so as to keep all your makeup products in order. They’ll last longer this way.
Not only does keeping your cosmetic bag clean help with cross-contamination it also helps keep bacteria and dirt at bay which can transfer to the skin, causing breakouts~
When you’re stressed out, the foods that you’re turning to are most likely going to be traditional ‘comfort’ foods –
When you’re stressed out, the foods that you’re turning to are most likely going to be traditional ‘comfort’ foods – think big meals, take-out, fatty foods, sweet foods, and alcohol. Let’s face it – we’ve all found some comfort in a tasty meal and a bottle of beer or glass of wine when we’ve been stressed out or upset about something. However, this isn’t a good permanent solution.
When you’re turning to unhealthy foods you can feel better temporarily, but in the long run, you will feel worse. When your body isn’t getting the right nutrition, you can begin to feel less energetic, more lethargic, and in some cases less able to concentrate and focus. All of this can lead to even more stress.
Foods that Fight Stress
If you’ve been feeling more stressed out than usual lately, it’s important to know which foods are best to choose and which to avoid when it comes to combating stress and helping you to deal with feelings of stress and anxiety. The best way to fight stress is to have a healthy, balanced diet which includes a moderate amount of each of the different food groups.
Filling up on foods such as whole grains, leafy vegetables, and lean proteins as the basic staples of the diet is the best way to ensure that your body gets the optimum amounts of nutrients to fight both physical and mental health problems. When it comes to choosing the foods to eat, some have a range of great properties which help the body to combat stress. Choosing these stress-busting foods will help to heal and calm your mind permanently, rather than providing a temporary fix.
Some of the best stress-fighting foods include:
Avocado – Avocados are a creamy and versatile fruit which can be eaten in a range of different ways whether you enjoy it raw, made into sauces, dressings and dips, or in a smoothie. These nutrient-dense fruits have the properties to stress-proof your body, thanks to their high glutathione content which specifically blocks the intestinal absorption of certain fats which cause oxidative damage. Avocados also contain higher levels of vitamin E, folate, and beta-carotene than any other fruit, which boosts their stress-busting properties. However, be careful with portion control when eating avocado, as it is high in fat.
Blueberries – If you’re feeling stressed out and reaching for the snacks, swapping chocolate or chips for one of the best superfoods is a great way to help you deal with your stress levels and achieve a higher level of calm. Blueberries have some of the highest levels of antioxidants, especially antho-cyanin, which means that this berry has been linked to a wide range of health benetfis including sharper cognition, better focus, and a clearer mind – all of which can help you to better deal with stress.
Chamomile Tea – Of course, it’s not all about what you’re eating when it comes to managing stress; what you’re drinking can also alleviate or worsen the stress you're feeling. Drinking liquids which are high in sugars and caffeine, such as coffee, energy drinks or soda, can actually increase your stress levels if consumed regularly. Chamomile tea has long been used as a natural bedtime soother, and it has also been used in clinical trials, which determined that chamomile tea is effective in reducing the symptoms of generalized anxiety disorder.
Chocolate – Although it’s usually seen as an unhealthy treat, there is an undeniable link between chocolate and our mood. Studies have shown that eating chocolate can actually make you happier. However, that doesn’t mean that you can start munching on chocolate bars every time you're stressed out – chocolate works best as a de-stressor when eaten in moderation and as part of a healthy and balanced diet. Dark chocolate in particular is best for you, as it contains more flavonols and polyphenols, two hugely important antioxidants which can help combat stress, more than many fruit juices.
Beef – Grass-fed beef is not only kinder to the planet and to animals, it’s also good for people, too. Grass-fed beef has a huge range of antioxidants, including beta-carotene and Vitamins C and E, which can help your body to fight stress and anxiety. If you’re looking for more reasons to spend a little more money on organic, grass-fed beef, it’s also lower in fat than grain-fed beef whilst being higher in omega-3.
Oatmeal – Oatmeal is great in that it can be a filling comfort food, but also has a large number of healthy properties to actually make you feel better from the inside out. A complex carbohydrate, eating oatmeal causes your brain to produce higher levels of the feel-good chemical serotonin, helping you to feel calmer and less stressed. Studies have shown that kids who choose oatmeal for breakfast tend to be much sharper throughout the morning in school compared to kids who had alternative morning meals.
Walnuts – If you’re looking for a healthy snacking option which will help you to stay better in control of your stress levels, walnuts are a great choice. There is no denying the sweet, pleasant flavor of walnuts and they can be a tasty snack for in-between meals or as part of a desert. A versatile nut, walnuts are great for salads, or add them to a sweet treat such as coffee and walnut cake.
Pistachios – another food which is great for snacking on and can also help to combat stress and anxiety in the long term is pistachios. Studies have found that simply eating two small, snack-size portions of pistachios per day can lower vascular constriction when you are stressed, putting less pressure on your heart by further dilating your arteries. Along with this, the rhythmic, repetitive act of shelling pistachios can actually be quite therapeutic!
Green Leafy Vegetables – leafy, green vegetables should be a pivotal part of anyone’s diet. Along with helping to combat stress, leafy greens are full of nutrients and antioxidants which help to fight off disease and leave your body feeling healthier and more energized. Dark leafy greens, for example spinach, are especially good for you since they are rich in folate, which helps your body to produce more mood-regulating neurotransmitters such as serotonin, which is a ‘feel-good’ chemical. Making leafy greens a part of your diet will help you to feel happier and less stressed out overall.
Fermented foods – last but not least, eating fermented foods such as yogurt can help to keep your gut healthy, which actually in turn will help to improve your mental health and reduce stress levels. The beneficial bacteria which are found in fermented foods such as yogurt actually have a direct effect on your brain chemistry and transmit positive mood and behavior regulating signals to your brain via the vagus nerve.
Putting Together Your Diet Plan
Planning your meals wisely is key to not only staying physically fit and healthy, but also to staying mentally strong and being able to best manage your levels of stress. Knowing which foods to avoid and which are the best to reach for to snack on when you’re feeling worried and anxious is important to helping you get control over your emotions and fears.
When you’re feeling stressed, you may be tempted to reach for classic ‘comfort foods’ – usually foods which are laden with sugar, very starchy, or greasy. However, although these foods can make you feel momentarily better, they will actually make you feel worse in the long run.
Having stress-busting snacks such as fresh berries, dark chocolate, yogurt, walnuts or pistachios, or even a fruit smoothie with avocado and leafy greens in it can help you to feel better in both the short and long term when it comes to stress. When it comes to combating and dealing with stress in the long run, it’s important to make sure that for the most part, you are eating a diet which is healthy and balanced.
In order to stay on track, it’s a good idea to make a meal plan for your week and plan ahead to make sure that you have a good selection of these stress-busting foods in your kitchen to make meals and snacks from when you’re feeling like stress-eating. Making sure that the majority of your meals include foods such as lean proteins and leafy green vegetables will not only make you feel healthier overall, but can improve your mental health and stress levels, too.
A good example of a healthy, stress-busting menu would be:
Breakfast: Oatmeal with berries or a fruit smoothie with avocado and berries Mid-morning snack: Natural yogurt with fruit or a handful of pistachio nuts
Lunch: A whole-grain pasta salad filled with plenty of leafy greens
Afternoon snack: Dark chocolate
Dinner: Grass-fed beef with vegetables
Before bed: Chamomile tea
Of course, you don’t need to stick to this menu – but it gives you a good idea! Remember to exercise good portion control when eating foods such as nuts, chocolate, yogurt or avocado! As the saying goes, you are what you eat – so make sure that first and foremost, you’re filling yourself up with foods which are good for your mental health.
Your skin is the first thing that people notice about you and that is why a proper skincare regimen is so important. There are many products that claim to help improve skin tone and promote a flawless complexion, but the truth is that there is no such thing as instant results. An effective skincare regimen is one that is done consistently over a time before results will begin to develop.
Exfoliate
Exfoliating 1-3 times per week will help to remove old skin cells, dirt, oil, and leftover products from your skin. This can be done using an enzyme mask or cleanser, products that contain BHA or AHA, and regional. Seek professional advice on specific routines and products for your skin type.
Avoid Constant Sun Exposure and Tanning Beds
In addition to being dangerous where health is concerned, these may also lead to early signs of aging. Everyone loves a suntan, but there is no reason to sacrfice your skin or your health in order to achieve it. If you are in a position where you need to be in the sun frequently, make sure to wear sunscreen of at least SPF 30. If you do want to look tan, (let’s be honest, who doesn’t?) find a self-tanning lotion. Before applying the lotion to your entire body, apply it to a small test area just to make sure there is no irritation.
Chapped Lips
If your lips have a tendency to become chapped, using a natural chapstick will help keep lips hydrated and happy. It also helps to use a lip scrub at least a couple times a week to gently exfoliate dead skin cells on the lips. This also helps the lip balm or chapstick to its job. Ingredients matter on this one so check the ingredient deck. Pro tip: purchase 2 to always have one handy!
Hydrated Skin=Happy Skin
Dry or cracked skin can be very unbearable. Keep a small container of hand lotion to moisturize on the go! And make sure to use oil or lotion after bathing, especially on parts where the skin is roughest: elbows, knees, and heels. Not only is dry skin uncomfortable it can cause a comprised skin barrier. Once this happens you are susceptible to a whole host of issues like eczema and acne to name a few.
Know Your Skin
When trying out a new item, make sure to apply a small portion to one area of the skin before, just to make sure you do not have a reaction. Also, always read the label! You never know what is hiding in certain products. Taking a few extra minutes to research is totally worth having the skin you love. You can also ask your esthetician or dermatologist for suggestion. Don't trust DIY's on the internet, TRUST me. Questions? I'm here to help.

With winter just around the corner its important that we pay extra attention to this delicate area. The lips are one of the first places to show signs of dryness. Usually due to environmental factors such as sun, wind, and dry air. Indoor heaters don't help either. It's important to use a nourishing lip balm/butter to keep the lips hydrated and protected. But the key first step is a gentle lip scrub, here's why.
1. Exfoliating lips can help eliminate some of the dry, flaky skin that builds up and helps to restore some shine.
2. Helps to soften and smooth the lips. By lightly lightly rubbing the lips in a circular motion you are not only manually exfoliating the skin but you are stimulating circulation and bringing more blood flow to the lips. Making the lips appear more plump.
3. Helps other lip products absorb better. Other lip products can't penetrate the delicate lip area through a layer of dead skin. Without exfoliation your products will just sit on top not able to do its job.
4. Extremely beneficial during the cold dry seasons. Now that the weather is getting cooler and air is getting drier and the wind picks up, heaters are on, our lips tend to be dryer during these months. Using a lip scurb as a weekly (or more) ritual will help keep dry parched lips at bay.
5. Primes the lips for makeup by creating a smooth canvas. The perfect prep for any lip makeup application. Helps the product glide on smoothly.

Face oil is a skincare game-changer.
Restorative, hydrating and great for most skin types (yes, even oily ones!) I want to share a few reasons why face oil should be part of your daily routine.
Face oils are packed with skin-saving omega-rich oils
Your skin LOVES omega fatty acids - especially Omega 3, Omega 6, and Omega 9.
They are essential for a radiant, healthy complexion and work like ‘building blocks’ for the skin, promoting a smoother, more even complexion.
The good news? Face oils are packed with these skincare superstars.
The anti-inflammatory properties of omega 3 fatty acids help calm red, inflamed skin and can reduce breakouts and acne flare-ups.
Omega 6 fatty acids also boast anti-inflammatory benefits and play a key role in maintaining a healthy skin barrier - more on that soon.
Omega 9 is a savior for dry, flaky skin; it helps maintain the level of hydration in the dermis, the thickest layer of skin and improve elasticity.
Our bodies can’t actually produce omega 3 and omega 6 so eating a healthy diet and choosing a face oil made with organic plant oils will boost the supply of fatty acids to your skin.
A natural source of vitamins and antioxidants
Incorporate a face oil into your daily routine and you’ll reap the benefits of the vitamins and antioxidants they deliver.
Vitamin C and E are champions for the skin - they’re antioxidants that help protect your body from the free radical damage that speeds up the aging process. Both vitamins help offset the damage of UV rays and exposure to air pollution.
Vitamin C gained its legendary status in skincare, including many face oils, thanks to the vital role it plays in helping our bodies produce collagen. This means skin looks plumper and fine lines are diminished - yes, please!
If you’re tackling hyperpigmentation, dark spots, and stubborn eye circles, reach for a face oil containing Vitamin K. Its skin brightening properties promote a more luminous, even skin tone, blitz dark circles and boost skin elasticity too.
Help repair the skin barrier with skin identical ingredients
A healthy skin barrier = a clear, even-toned, and balanced complexion.
On the flip side, if your skin barrier is compromised, it can trigger a range of issues including inflammation, dryness, and breakouts.
So what exactly is the skin barrier and how can face oils keep it in optimal shape?
Your skin barrier is the outermost layer of your skin's surface. It’s made up of fatty acids, ceramides, and cholesterol that work to lock moisture in the skin and keep harmful bacteria out.
Face oils can help support a healthy skin barrier because many oils are known as ‘skin identical’ - compounds found naturally in the skin.
As the skin’s natural barrier is oil-based, using skin identical ingredients means your skin will recognize and work positively with them, preventing moisture loss and dehydration.
Can help reduce breakouts (Yes, really!)
Putting oil on acne might not sound like the smartest move but the right face oil can actually reduce breakouts, not make them worse.
Your skin goes into overdrive creating more sebum when it’s been stripped of the essential oil it needs - cleansers that leave your face feeling ‘tight’ will do this - which can trigger breakouts.
Using face oil means you don’t lose the essential oil your skin needs to stay hydrated and your sebaceous glands won’t go crazy making more oil.
As skin becomes balanced, breakouts subside.
Many natural oils have antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties too, which help treat and soothe acne-prone skin.
Some of the best oils for oily skin types are jojoba, raspberry seed oil, and pomegranate.
My recommendation: The Face Oil
This face oil does it all. It’s fast-absorbing, smells great and is amazing for your skin.
It was specifically designed with acne-prone and sensitive skin in mind, but it is great for all skin types. It’s also a perfect primer for makeup, gives an immediate plumping effect which creates a great canvas for makeup.
It’s super concentrated; you’ll only need a couple of drops so it lasts a long time!

Well I digress, this post is not about coffee. I want to talk about morning routines.
I feel like your morning routine sets up your mood for the whole day, or it can if you let it. I make sure every morning no matter how hectic it is, to take some time for me. Some quiet time to get ready and plan my day ahead of me. My day usually doesn’t go as planned and my to do list never gets done, but at least I try. I also came to the realization that you can’t control everything and you have to forgive yourself when things don’t go as planned.
I look forward to my skincare routine in the morning and putting on my makeup. It sounds weird but that is something I CAN control. Something for just me. If I feel put together my day goes better. Whatever it is you do in the morning make sure you carve out sometime for yourself.
]]>We all know the importance of eating healthy for our bodies, but did you know that it also has a huge impact on our skin? For many people suffering from acne food may be the culprit. There is usually never one reason for a breakout but many different contributing factors.
poor diet and lack of exercise
dairy can be a trigger for some people as well as heavily processed foods
not washing your pillowcase enough, oils, bacteria and dirt get trapped in the fabric
not drinking enough water
hormones
The list goes on and on. These are just a few common things that could be contributing. Every persons skin in different and there is no cookie cutter solution unfortunately. Try keeping a journal of your daily intake of food and beverages and note how your skin reacts. This can help you narrow down what is causing the inflammation in your skin. You can never go wrong with adding lots of dark leafy greens to your diet as well as brightly colored fruits and vegetables. An easy way to get a quick dose of vitamins and to fill your stomach in the morning is to make a smoothie. Every day try to make a conscious decision on the foods you are consuming. You will be surprised how it effects your skin and the way you feel.
